Army was a few plays away from ending Navy’s win streak in the patriotic series.

The Navy quarterback scored his 85th career rushing touchdown in the second quarter against Navy, becoming the all-time leader in rushing touchdowns in the division.

Signs on ESPN’s College GameDay were excellent last week in Indianapolis for the Big Ten title game between Michigan State and Iowa, with Hawkeyes fans taking over the city (even though the game did not go their way). “I love the kids I coach”. Navy’s players walked silently into the locker room while Army players pumped their arms and sprinted through the tunnel. One of the most famous matchups was in 1944 between the schools – the 46th Army Navy game.

The Army-Navy game is one of the most storied college football games.

For three hours todays these two teams will battle it out on the field for the Commander-In-Chief Trophy, but once the game is over they are brothers in arms. Coach Monken did a great job of bringing people in.

Niumatalolo improved to 8-0 against the Black Knights two days before he is set to visit BYU to talk about the program’s coaching vacancy. “These guys are not responsible for the last how many years it’s been”. The Black Knights’ last win was on October 17, when they defeated Bucknell, 21-14, at home. Navy won 14-6. AP file photo 1961: President John F. Junior Aaron Kemper has a team-high 506 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Edgar Poe has five TDs – the most by a Black Knights receiver since 2009.

Reynolds led his conference with 19 rushing touchdowns this year, and the Midshipmen backfield is filled with talented options.

Army, which has struggled to score against Navy in recent years, responded with a seven-play, 82-yard drive that finished with Tyler Campbell’s 29-yard touchdown run. Reynolds connected with Jamir Tillman for a 50-yard touchdown pass and 21-17 lead with 5:51 left in the third quarter, although CBS analyst Gary Danielson pointed out the Midshipmen should have been called for a pick on Army safety Xavier Moss to get Tillman open. The star quarterback has rushed for 119 yards but he has struggled to throw the ball as Army has dropped two possible interceptions.

Reynolds picked up 166 yards in the first half. Chris Carter lost a fumble at the Navy 34 that was recovered by linebacker Ted Colburn. Part of that time has been spent as Navy’s defensive line coach.
