At the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Sharif is likely to focus on the Kashmir issue and Pakistan’s tense relations with India.
In a development that gave India some small satisfaction, United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon refrained from taking up Pakistan’s repeated requests to intervene in Jammu & Kashmir.
Pakistan’s effort to stay focused on Indian atrocities in held Kashmir is resonating at the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in NY, as US Secretary of State John Kerry also expressed “strong concern” over recent violence in the occupied Valley.
While Sharif was delivering his speech, there was very thin attendance in the hall.
In response, Swarup in another post on Twitter said, “PM Sharif at #UNGA says India poses unacceptable conditions to dialogue”.
“Our Prime Minister has said clearly that the Uri attack will be a jaw for a tooth”.
Burhan Wani is a self-declared commander of Hizbul. “The world also knows that Pakistan has been indulged in ethnic cleansing of its own people”, he said.
He said that it was wrong to call Wani as the “symbol” of’ freedom movement’ as he was carrying out communal activities in a multi religious Kashmir society. Nawaz Sharif had also written to heads of state of permanent UN member countries (P5), urging them to call on the Indian government to immediately cease bloodshed in IHK and implement United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions on Kashmir.
Pakistan “fully supports the demand of the Kashmiri people for self-determination”, said Sharif.
Presidents, a monarch, prime ministers, vice presidents and top-level figures-numbering about 140 – are attending the annual session being held under tight security. Sharif is in NY to attend the UN General Assembly session. In his speech he also portrayed a Hizbul Mujahiddin Commander, who is considered a terrorist by many in India, as a hero.
China has been soft on Pakistan – its so-called all-weather friend – over accusations that Islamabad harbours terrorists. India has blamed Pakistan for engineering and fuelling the unrest. Pakistan is committed for peace and stability in the region.
He said talks are in interest of both countries.
“We are thankful to Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for investing huge resources for the safety and security of Chinese personnel in Pakistan”, Li Keqiang said, according to Geo.

The infiltration bid came just two days after the deadly attack by four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists on the Army base in Uri which claimed the lives of 18 soldiers and left several others injured. They are essential to resolve our differences, especially in (sic) Jammu and Kashmir dispute, and to avert the danger of any escalation”. More than 80 people have been killed in the protests.
