“Burhan Wani, the young leader murdered by Indian forces, has emerged as the symbol of the latest Kashmiri Intifada, a popular and peaceful freedom movement, led by Kashmiris”, Sharif said in his address at the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in NY.

Ban has repeatedly said his “good offices” are available to help resolve the Kashmir dispute only if both India and Pakistan request for it, a clear indication that the issue is bilateral and should be solved by the two countries only.
Sharif also mentioned Hizbul militant Burhan Wani, whose killing on July 8 sparked off the current unrest in the Kashmir Valley, terming him a “young leader” and the symbol of the Kashmiri unrest.
AICC chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also said that Sharif at the UNGA once again betrayed Pakistan’s mindless obsession with Kashmir at UNGA and its diabolical designs will never succeed.
Swarup said Jaishankar reminded Basit of Pakistan’s commitment in January 2004 to not allow its soil or territory held by it to be used for terrorism against India.
Surjewala said the Modi government has “followed” the Congress-UPA’s policy in raising the issue of human rights violations in Balochistan and now it is imperative for India to sensitize the International Community and the United Nations with this issue. “We are open to discussing all measures of restraint and responsibility with India, in any forum or format and without any conditions”.
Gambhir called Pakistan a “democracy deficit country” and said the country was extending support to extremist groups, and committing “war crimes” by suppressing minorities and women and denying them basic human rights.
“The worst violation of human rights is terrorism”, she said. “We can not and will not allow terrorism to prevail”.
Wani is a “self-declared commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen”, Akbar said. India’s response came after Mr. Sharif’s speech claimed that India placed “unacceptable preconditions” that prevent dialogue.
India today said it hopes that the bill to designate Pakistan as a terrorist state by two United States lawmakers will be treated with utmost seriousness.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi has said that Pakistan’s nuclear programme will continue and it can not limit it unilaterally and the United States should urge India to restrict its N-plan. “The world also knows that Pakistan has indulged in ethnic cleansing of its own people”, he said.

In his speech, the Pakistan PM said on the Kashmir issue: “Peace between India and Pakistan can not be finally achieved without resolution of the Kashmir dispute”.
