Zach LaVine and Aaron Gordon combined to produce one of the best NBA Dunk Contests ever.

The highlights of LaVine’s final round included a windmill jam from the free-throw line, a through-the-legs dunk from just below the free-throw line and a through-the-legs reverse bucket starting from under the baseline. He will be looking to beat Aaron Gordon (Orlando Magic), Will Barton (Denver Nuggets), Andre Drummond (Detroit Pistons).

Gordon would cap off his final dunk with a 50 in epic fashion. Barton had a rough go in he second round, with just 30 points.

The skills challenge featured four big men against four guards, and a big man prevailed – Karl-Anthony Towns, the Timberwolves rookie, who outdueled Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas in the final.

Then began the next portion of the dunk contest with the dunkers using the assist of another player to help them.

Towns won after teammate Zach LaVine took home MVP of the Rising Stars Challenge on Friday night.

“Back-to-back years for Splash Brothers, it’s pretty cool”, he added. In the first round he scored a 45 and he followed that up in the second by scoring a 49 on a dunk that involved the Magic’s mascot Stuff.

Gordon flashed the skills of an Olympic high jumper by soaring over Magic mascot Stuff the Magic Dragon twice.

But fellow Warrior Thompson was better, racking up 27 as he hit eight shots in a row in the middle and drained the final rack of money balls as the Air Canada Centre crowd roared.

“There’s a lot of superstars in this building, but this is the star of the show”, one announcer quipped looking on the Verizon Slam Dunk Contest, and he could not be more right.
