“The NBA will make an announcement on the new location of the 2017 NBA All-Star Game in the coming weeks”. “I understand that through their actions and their in-actions”, LGBT member Erica Lachowitz said. Charlotte mayor Jennifer Roberts stated she is disappointed that the House Bill 2 caused the league to move their game.

NBA pointed out that the week-long All-Star events and activities are a global celebration of basketball that aims to unite all members of the NBA community. The Law eliminates anti-discrimination protections for the LGBT community.it also forces people in government buildings to use bathrooms that correspond to the sex on their birth certificate. Pat McCrory standing firm by his state’s recently enacted Bathroom Law, which requires that people use the public restroom that corresponds to their biological gender, the National Basketball Association made a decision to pull the 2017 All-Star Game out of Charlotte, it announced Thursday.

“Our week-long schedule of All-Star events and activities is meant to be a global celebration of basketball, our league, and the values for which we stand, and to bring together all members of the NBA community – current and former players, league and team officials, business partners and fans”, the NBA said in a statement.

The bill came in response to an ordinance in Charlotte, scheduled to come into effect in April, which would have protected LGBT people from discrimination in housing, the workplace, and public accommodation.

Last Monday saw McCrory sign the legislation for the law, initially passed in March, with the majority of the clauses that outraged gay rights groups and business leaders still in place. Other cities, however, are reportedly trying to enter the sweepstakes.
