NBA Draft pick for first time ever
And while some reports are linking them to Luka Dončić, they may have to wait.

The Mavericks thought they had done enough to land a high pick in the lottery. They’ve earned this pick. “To be honest with you, we have to play well”.
The first pick isn’t the only pick the Suns will have in the draft too. Although some may feel Doncic is making an early leverage play, that’s unfair to pin on the 19-year-old prior to the EuroLeague season ending. “I say to Atlanta, we are on our way”.
So how do they go about it?
Sacramento will pick No. 2 and Atlanta got the No. 3 pick – both of them moving up and bucking some odds to get there.
Even if it isn’t Young or any other aforementioned player the Magic decide to take, it’s an important selection after not earning a the top pick following Tuesday’s lottery. A 2.87 percent chance of happening long shot.
Gary Trent Jr. is listed 21st (Utah Jazz) by NBADraft.net, 26th (Philadelphia 76ers) by NetScouts; 27th (Boston Celtics) by Basketball Insiders, 28th (Golden State Warriors) by Bleacher Report, and 51st (New Orleans Pelicans) by Sports Illustrated.
A short paragraph shared by Bleacher Report corroborates the idea that the Suns are likely to take Ayton, but are still considering Doncic. They have a need and he is the best talent available to fill that need.
Word has come out now that he won’t take physicals at the NBA Combine this week in Chicago, instead opting to have his medicals done by his own doctors and send them out to teams of his choice.
The Suns’ fan base would rally behind the Arizona product like no other player in this year’s draft. Someone like J.J. What may scare off most teams is the fact that he never really had much college experience because a back injury wiped out much of his only year at Missouri.
The Suns are in the midst of a rebuild, and have talented Devin Booker. He’s a vocal leader, and he’s going to score. Or perhaps he’s just being polite toward his current team during crunch time as he tries to lead it to a Euroleague title.
I look at this situation post-lottery, and think this would be an intriguing way to go.
In case you missed it, the NBA Draft Lottery was on last night. Thomas’ most notable Kings moment was when he hit Jonas Jerekbo and was then later suspended. I specifically praised his defensive ability, and talked a little more about what he could do with an expanded role.

“Like I said, it’ll give us a great opportunity to get one of those players, and hopefully that player can help us so we won’t be at this lottery next year”.
