NBA Free Agency 2016: Kevin Durant’s Choice Will Be ‘Basketball Decision’

According to reporting from Marc Stein of ESPN, the fact that the Golden State Warriors just lost this year’s NBA Championship could, paradoxically, help them pursue one of the biggest free agents in years: Kevin Durant.

And barring an unexpected decision from LeBron James, no free agent will be more heavily recruited than Kevin Durant.

Durant, on the other hand, could use a boost after falling to the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals, and he would build confidence by winning another gold medal. Durant stated “I’m more anxious about basketball”.

“The same source maintains that if Durant doesn’t re-sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder he would prefer to join the Warriors”. However, it looks as if should he decide to not stay with the Oklahoma City Thunder, then the two-time defending Western Conference champions could get a lot more risky.

Following their disheartening loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals on Sunday, the Warriors made it clear that they are going to be aggressive during the summer.

While rumors on Durant are swirling around, many observers believe that Durant will end up signing a two-year contract with the Thunder, the second year would be a player option. It’s a basketball decision.

Both teams can present Durant with compelling reasons to sign, and it will be interesting to see which one he opts for this summer or if he may even have another team in mind. Add Golden State Warriors as one of the teams that would be evaluating to acquire Durant.

With the 93-89 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Warriors fell short of repeating as National Basketball Association champions and dampened the glory achieved with a regular-season record 79 victories.
