The American women are heavily favoured to repeat as gold medallists in gymnastics in Rio de Janeiro – but one of the three Americans in the all-around gymnastics competition will miss out on the final. And while floor is her best event, she is still the gold medal favorite on the balance beam and vault in Rio. She told TMZ Sports, “Life goes on, and that’s my past, and that’s what it should be left at, the past”.

Now that her story has become a matter of public record, Shanon Biles – Simone’s birth mom – has made a decision to speak up about what happened when she walked away from her children all those years ago. The eyes of the law consider them her parents. There should be no debate about this.
When her mother, Shannon Biles, was unable to care for Simone and her sister Andria, they were officially adopted by their grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles, in 2003.
Simone and her younger sister spent time in foster care before being adopted by their maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his wife, Nellie.
Biles recalls an emotional moment when she chose to stop calling Nellie and Ron Grandma and Grandpa and instead, opted for Mom and Dad.
Talking about the accomplishments of athletes is easy. There are a lot of ways to quantify performance, good and bad, even in a sport that is subjectively judged like gymnastics. Impressed by the tiny girl’s explosive power and “air sense”-a gymnast’s catlike ability to stay oriented while flying through the air-Boorman soon became Biles’s personal coach, a position she has held to this day”.
The Independent Journal reports Biles was born in OH to drug-addicted parents, and her father quickly abandoned the family. But when adults make similar comments, it is more about a lack of understanding, she says.
Simone said her mom, Nellie has been giving her encouraging pep talks for years.
Lauren Brewer questioned why Ron and Nellie kept being called her grandparents, adding “adoptive parents are parents”.
“It was after London that she decided she wanted to be in the next one”, Ron Biles said. We are the most determined and persistent bunch of people you will ever find, and we’ve been through it all to hold our babies and see them through their paths in life.

Simone’s luck turned around soon enough as she worked her way into becoming the champion gymnast that she is today. “Congratulations for insulting every adoptive parent with that remark”. The difference is an important lesson to anyone who has an amplified voice at the Olympics.
