NC State Running Back Arrested

Multiple Raleigh-area outlets reported that Thornton was arrested late Tuesday after an apparent motor scooter accident that left another man injured.

Sughrue said Thornton was later located at the parking deck of his nearby apartment and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with failure to stop and render aid and failure to provide information.

Thornton has been arrested two other times during his college career, and he’s been suspended three previous times, including for the first two games of this season.

NC State coach Dave Doeren will presumably address or be asked about Thornton’s playing status during his appearance on the ACC media teleconference at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.

This was at least the third run-in with the law Thornton’s had the last two years. He missed the 2013 season opener after a misdemeanor assault on a female charge. “I don’t know (Thornton)”.

The court deferred prosecution until 2016. In each instance, charges were voluntarily dismissed.

Through four games in 2015, Thorton has rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns.
