NCAA clears UCF 7-foot-6 recruit Tacko Fall to play
The University of Central Florida’s men’s basketball season starts Saturday as the Knights head to North Carolina to face off against Davidson, but they could be without their tallest player.

“I am very thankful for the support from UCF, Dr. Hitt, my family and the media”, said the freshman after learning the news.
At 7 feet 6 inches tall, Fall can do a few pretty incredible things on the basketball court, and while he would like to play professionally someday, he has other dreams that are off the court.
The NCAA had informed Central Florida last week that Fall wasn’t allowed to practice with the team after it was determined that the NCAA was only accepting seven and a half of his core courses from Liberty Christian Preparatory School in Tavares, Florida.
Fall’s supporters had threatened to sue the NCAA had it not granted him an academic waiver.
“I would also like to thank the NCAA for allowing me to continue to pursue my dream here at UCF as a student-athlete”, he said in a statement. Only recently had the NCAA requested additional records.
The governing body and UCF have declined to comment on Fall’s status. Fall is the first Division I athlete to come out of the small private Christian school.

“We are excited for Tacko and his family”, UCF coach Donnie Jones said. Ndiaye set a Big West Conference single-season record with 106 blocked shots as a freshman in 2013-14.
