If left up to coach Brian Kelly, four of the six Notre Dame players arrested in separate incidents the weekend of August 19 will be available to play Sunday in the season opener at Texas.

Safety Floyd “Max” Redfield, who was dismissed from the team, is charged with misdemeanor counts of illegal possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana. He has since been kicked off the team.
All five players are scheduled to appear in Fulton County (Indiana) Court on Tuesday.
Stepherson and Williams were initially accused of possession of a handgun without a license as well upon their August 19 arrests, but Redfield was the only one of the players hit with that charge Monday.
White and Williams did not appear in court, and attorneys filed motions on their behalf to waive their initial hearing and set the matter for pre-trial conference.
Kelly has already said that if it were up to him, Stepherson, Coney, Williams and White would be available to play against Texas on Sunday night.
The five players were formally charged on Monday.
Police then found a gun in the back passenger floorboard while searching for possible drugs in the vehicle. Two baggies of marijuana also were found on a rear floorboard, and police found what they described as a significant amount of loose marijuana throughout the front seat area. The five players told police the gun was not theirs, court documents said.

Redfield, Stepherson and Williams each were initially arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of a handgun, but only Redfield was charged with the offense Monday. White reportedly said he got the generic muscle relaxer from a friend. Coney and Stepherson pleaded not guilty to the charges Tuesday. He was also kicked off the team.
