Nebraska, Michigan State Punters Sam Foltz, Mike Sadler Killed In Car Crash

Services have been scheduled for Nebraska football player Sam Foltz, who died Saturday in a Wisconsin vehicle accident. Foltz and Sadler were pronounced dead at the scene and authorities did not confirm whether anyone in the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt, according to the Lincoln Journal-Star. Delahoussaye was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment but his condition was not known Sunday. He will be a senior this fall at LSU, but it is unclear when he will return to school or football.

Authorities said it’s unclear if any of the three were wearing seatbelts. They were working at a kicking camp during the weekend in Wisconsin. Nebraska elected to pull out of this week’s kickoff event in Chicago, deciding instead to stay in Lincoln and mourn as a team, according to multiple reports.

The crash scene is about 10 miles north of the high school.

“They’re in a better place now”, Mortell said.

A statement from kicking camp director Jamie Kohl said the staff was mourning with the players’ families and football programs. Foltz was also a first-team All-Big Ten selection.

Brown was on his way back to Lincoln, Riley said. “He was truly one of his best friends”. It still hasn’t sunk in yet.

“I just asked my waitress what sport she thought I played.

The Big Ten conference was rocked by tragedy Sunday, on the eve of its annual football media day.

“As soon as you met Mike Sadler and talked to him, you fell in love with him in about five minutes”, Mannie said. This loss will be felt for a long time around the Nebraska program. “We’re asking for people to please pray for the families of the two boys”.

This young man was loved by all and represented everything that was right with the world. “May your memory be eternal”. It’s not yet clear who was behind the wheel.

He certainly was doing that on the field. Both were very involved in the community and top-notch student-athletes. He was also awarded the Nebraska’s Student-Athlete HERO Leadership Award in 2016.

The 22-year old Foltz was a native Nebraskan from Greeley who earned his degree in agronomy from UNL in May but had one year of eligibility remaining. He led the Big Ten in punting past year at 44.2 yards per kick and ranked fifth in school history (42.6). His career average of 42.6 ranks fifth in Nebraska history.

But Foltz dispelled those rumors in a tweet more than a week ago, when he explained how he was a walk-on who wasn’t recruited. “I’m a walk on who wasn’t recruited”. He left behind a legacy that will ensure he will be remembered for years to come. A few roses sat at the base of the Berringer statue on this Sunday.
