Nebraska punter and former Michigan State punter killed in crash
Nebraska punter Sam Foltz – “universally loved”, according to his head coach – died late Saturday in a vehicle crash in Wisconsin, sending shock waves of sorrow through Husker teammates, NU coaches and administrators, and the fan base as a whole.

Foltz and Sadler died in a single-car crash at 11:43 p.m. CT, according to a Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department statement. Foltz (was in the front passenger seat) and Sadler (who was driving), were declared dead at the scene of the crash.
Foltz was a three-year starter for the Nebraska team, and last year he was named the Big Ten’s punter of the year. Hutson says Delahoussaye has attended that camp since high school and he’s thankful his former player only suffered minor injuries. He was taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Riley, quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr., receiver Jordan Westerkamp and linebacker Josh Banderas were scheduled to be a part of the Big Ten media kickoff Monday and Tuesday in Chicago. In 2015, he was voted the Eddelman-Fields Big Ten Punter of the Year and was a first-team All-Big Ten selection. I didn’t know Sam very well, just met him this past weekend but he was a guy who did a lot more than just play football and did (so much) in the community at Nebraska.
Nebraska Huskers coach Mike Riley said Foltz had been a positive influence on the team.
Nebraska safety Kieron Williams, right, hugs Mark Philipp, the head football strength coach, Sunday, July 24, 2016, following the vigil for punter Sam Foltz in Lincoln, Neb. He was the first in history to win the Academic All-American four times. Meyer and Brown, who is entering his junior season at Nebraska, started calling the players’ cell phones. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them”, Jamie Kohl, Kohl’s Kicking Camp director said in a statement on Sunday.
Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh didn’t mention the two in his opening statement, but later offered prayer to the families of Sadler and Foltz.
“They’re in a better place now”, Mortell said. Sam was a man of integrity, he was giving of his time, his smile was infectious and his love for others was far-reaching. He’d remind you of the Royals record and even one time he served as a one-person viewing audience for one of my sportscasts.
“I used to punt footballs but I still tell bad jokes”, reads Sadler’s Twitter bio. Dwayne Delahoussaye said the reception was at or near Meyer’s home.
“When we were there, the Baylor kicker (Chris Callahan) talked about specialists being a fraternity, a bunch of guys that went to camp I knew them throughout high school and my college career so I feel like we get to hang out and talk about more than just football”, Puyol said. The vehicle, with Sadler at the wheel, lost control on wet pavement and struck a tree. This isn’t supposed to happen to young people who have so much to live for.

“I don’t think I’m far off in saying that Sam Foltz is the Brook Berringer of our time”, Headley wrote.
