Need for Speed will be Always Online to Bring Improved Autolog
It does not have a long standing tradition of success, so it might’ve somewhat lowered the enthusiasm of players who wished to experiment the upcoming reboot of the popular street racing game Need For Speed (NFS). Games Radar reported executive producer Marcus Nilsson explained the decision to keep the game online and the revamped Autolog in the Official Xbox Magazine. Come Gamescom, EA is finally ready to shed some light on the “rewarding experience” they have planned to justify a mandatory internet connection for both multiplayer and single-player gameplay. Other Need for Speed players will become part of the narrative experience, though it hasn’t yet been revealed how.

Take Forza’s Drivatar for example, which was supposed to make AI drive more like your friends, though instead it just made AI seem a little more dickish, and let’s not forget DriveClub, whose always-online necessity pretty much ruined the game’s launch.
Nilsson does say that the coming racing game also comes with a new automatic image sharing feature, which will snap shots of the most impressive moments of an event. “The Xbox One has really good built-in systems to make videos and stream them, which we are also going to use”.
“We also have a new snapshot system as well”, he adds.
Ghost Games, the developer in-charge of Need for Speed’s reboot of the entire series, was always in favor of making it an ultimate online experience, and the move is a key part of the company’s vision.

The Autolog is a social network-like system first introduced in 2010 in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, which allows friends to set high scores, challenge one another, and share photos. So you get progression from sharing your photos. It caused the brows to perk of many gamers as the “always online” feature of certain games have certainly not been well received, especially the company’s SimCity.
