Neil Robertson shoots maximum break 147, wins UK Championship
Robertson punched the air in delight and received a standing ovation from the crown at the York Barbican Centre after he potted the final black.

Ironically Robertson was sitting in the other chair when Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh missed the final black of a 147 bid last week.
Robertson is looking to lift the UK Championship for the second time in three years but Selby insists the result is far from a foregone conclusion.
Four-time United Kingdom champion Steve Davis described the break as “absolutely fantastic”.
It was a ideal frame that will nearly certainly land him £44,000 – a £40,000 rolling prize for the 147 and £4,000 for the highest break. “I threw everything at Liang but he kept coming back at me”.
“The crowd have been unbelievable all week, so I’m glad I could produce that for them”.
Snooker champion Neil Robertson has revealed Chelsea captain John Terry sent him a message of support during his Betway UK Championship triumph.
“That sometimes happens though, the balls go against you”.Robertson battled past the in-form John Higgins 6-5 and the big-ticket semi-final was secured when Selby beat Matthew Selt 6-1 – the only game of Friday’s four not to go the distance.
“I’m going to have a pretty decent Christmas to say the least”, said the Aussie.
Having led Liang 5-3 in Sunday’s final boosted by running in the third maximum break of his career in the sixth frame of the afternoon, world number three Robertson closed out the final session in comfortable fashion for a 10-5 success later in the evening as his Chinese opponent missed too many balls in falling to defeat.

And although he made hard work of the final, Robertson was the class act all tournament long, richly deserving victory at the ranking event which is second only to the World Championship in prestige. “I’ve got to enjoy this moment, relax and get ready to go again for the Masters”.
