Newly-elected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has begun talks with top leaders of the Federal Alliance.
The 61-year-old former rebel commander has vowed to tackle the grievances of the Madhesi minority that demands a greater say in central government by amending the constitution adopted last September.
Talking to Prime Minister Dahal over the phone Saturday, Sri Lankan premier Wickremesinghe expressed his confidence that major tasks of constitution implementation and addressing national problems would be undertaken under PM Dahal’s leadership, according to PM Dahal’s private secretariat.
He further directed the secretaries to be clear on the government’s priorities. He said that the secretaries should rather inspect the development works instead of going on foreign junkets and attending symposiums.
In a different context, Dahal underscored the need for a serious review of trade unions in bureaucracy.

Meanwhile, the government has also made a decision to withdraw the proposal that had named 14 ambassadors, Deputy Prime Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said.
