Abbas added that Palestinians can’t be the only party abiding by the signed agreements. “We want to reach a political solution peacefully, and no other solution”.

The tension in Palestine is growing, and many are calling the recent violence the beginning of the third Intifada in the war torn region. Israel’s military had no immediate comment.

“Just today we had a similar incident where a civilian, well-trained, armed with a pistol, was stabbed in the back”.

An 18-year-old Palestinian woman stabbed an Israeli man near a contested shrine in Jerusalem on Wednesday and was then shot and wounded by him, Israeli police said, making it the third knife attack in the city in less than a week.

Israeli forces shot a 13-year-old Palestinian boy in his chest during anti-Israel demonstrations in Aida refugee camp in Bethlehem on Monday, causing outrage among Palestinians who clahesd with police in his funeral procession the next day.

Israeli police shot dead an Arab man in central Israel on Wednesday after he allegedly wounded a soldier with a knife and took his weapon, authorities said.

The suspected assailant was identified as a “Palestinian terrorist” from the West Bank city of Hebron. A Palestinian teenager was shot and seriously injured in the incident.

The mosque has been the site of clashes and protests in recent weeks, but broader tensions appeared to boil over last Thursday when two Israeli settlers – including a USA citizen – were shot dead while they drove with their children in the West Bank.

He spoke before the beginning of an emergency Security Cabinet meeting.

“We didn’t start or initiate (violence) and Israeli needs to stop and accept the hand extended (to them)”. It is usually applied to criminal suspects.

The violence forced Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to call off a high-profile visit to Germany and prompted him to tell the nation to be on “alert” for further trouble.

“The police are going deeply into the Arab neighborhoods, which has not been done in the past”, Netanyahu said Monday. He said Israel is letting its forces, in his words, “take strong action against those who throw rocks and firebombs. This is necessary in order to safeguard the security of Israeli citizens”.

Israel has said such demolitions were punitive and could serve as a deterrent to other potential attackers.

Palestinian assailants carried out a series of stabbings across Israel on Wednesday, jolting an anxious country unnerved by weeks of unrest as clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian demonstrators raged across the West Bank.

As part of Mr Netanyahu’s pledged steps to stem what he termed a “wave of terrorism”, Israeli forces destroyed the homes of two Palestinians involved in attacks past year.

“The president asked the military council and the commanders of security apparatus to be alert and careful and to deny the Israelis any chance to escalate the situation”, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA said.
