Netflix announces Stranger Things sequel

Show creators Matt and Ross Duffer (known as The Duffer Brothers) confirmed that they opted for the show to be a continuing one despite many suggestions that it should be turned into an anthology.

Season 1 starred Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton and Matthew Modine.

The first season of Stranger Things saw a young boy disappear in a small town in Indiana.

These titles leave us wondering what unusual occurrences will happen next, although we can probably expect to see how Will is coping now that he has returned from the Upside Down. “So we definitely want to explore a little bit more”.

The brothers recently confirmed that they had a plan in place for series two – which would largely be inspired by the eerie events of season one.

Speaking to IGN, Matt Duffer said: “It was an awesome year for cinema, so we’re trying, hopefully, to capture a little bit of the magic of those films”.

“I know movie sequels get a lot of shit, but the ones we look up to aspire to pivot and do something different”, Matt says.

But perhaps the most exciting news for fans is that season 2 will be longer – by one episode.

Although this is the first official confirmation, the second season has been a foregone conclusion from the beginning, so we already know some details.

You can see the teaser trailer from Netflix below, which proclaims “In the fall of 1984, the adventure continues”.

The first Stranger Things season 2 teaser doesn’t have any footage – it’s really just a variation on the regular title sequence. “We leave that up in the air”, said Ross Duffer.
