However, the more remarkable news related to the network is that this is the first time in 10 years that it has not received the most nominations. And only one show (Fox’s “Empire”) made the cut for the best TV drama Golden Globe, with all the rest coming from cable networks or streaming. They are: “Carol“, “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “The Revenant,” “Room“, and “Spotlight.”5:42 a.m”.

Shows distributed by Netflix and Amazon combined to receive dozens of nominations, and for the first time, Hulu scored a significant nod of its own, thanks to Casual’s presence among the nominees for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical.
The Best Picture category is another tough one with Mad Max: Fury Road, The Revenant, Spotlight, Room, and Carol all in the race for the gong.
One notable Golden Globes snub was for Johnny Depp’s performance as Boston criminal Whitey Bulger in “Black Mass”, which earned him a best actor SAG nomination.
Eddie Redmayne – Nominee for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama “The Danish Girl”: “I am incredibly grateful to the HFPA for having included me in such a brilliant troupe of actors”.
Agent amusing: The Musical/Comedy category’s always a wild card, as very few musicals open each year and few good comedies either, sadly. Out of 30 slots, only two went to an actor of color (drama lead Will Smith, in “Concussion”, and supporting actor Idris Elba, in “Beasts of No Nation”).
The double Vikander: Rising star Alicia Vikander had a ton of movies this year, and she earned her nominations for Best Actress, Drama (“The Danish Girl”) and Best Supporting Actress (“Ex Machina”).
Tied with four is the Aaron Sorkin-scripted box-office disappointment “Steve Jobs”.

The nominees for best animated feature film: “Anomalisa, ” “Inside Out, ” “The Good Dinosaur, ” “The Peanuts Movie, ” and “Shaun the Sheep Movie”. The third nom for that film, by the way, was for Ridley Scott as Best Director – Motion Picture. I know they’re big studio comedies. CW’s Jane the Virgin leading lady Gina Rodriguez – last yr’s victor – & Crazy Ex-Lady mate, pal show star Rachel Bloom are pitted against one another within the musical or comedy actress class.
