Netflix, Fox Won The Most Golden Globe Nominations
Apart from “Carol”, the other best motion picture drama nominees are “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “The Revenant”, harrowing kidnap tale “Room” and “Spotlight“, which recounts the Boston Globe’s investigation into sex abuse in the Catholic Church.

Best television drama series nominations include HBO’s Game of Thrones and Netflix’s Narcos. This year, the Globe nominations told a different story – and one that’s just as encouraging.
Lady Gaga will have to beat Kirsten Dunst (“Fargo”), Sarah Hay (“American Crime”) and Queen Latifah (“Bessie”) on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 to win the Golden Globe for Best Actress – Miniseries or Television Film.
Broadcast networks were shut out altogether in the music or comedy series category, where they used to glow.
USA subscription VoD service Netflix is leading the field with eight nominations for next year’s Golden Globe Awards – more than any traditional TV network.
Financial crisis film “The Big Short”, revenge thriller “The Revenant” and biopic “Steve Jobs” followed close behind with four nominations each for the Globes, which will be handed out in Beverly Hills on January 10. “Casual”, on Hulu, shares the category with “Mozart in the Jungle” and “Transparent” (both on Amazon), “Orange is the New Black” (Netflix), and “Silicon Valley” and “Veep” (HBO). Even HBO, which conventionally ruled at award times, has been surpassed by these streaming service providers.
In December a year ago, showbiz satire “Birdman” and coming-of-age movie “Boyhood” were already established as Oscar frontrunners. Year to date, the stock is up by nearly 152%, while in the last one month, it is up by over 9%.
“My mom and my manager @wanaynay are so emotional about our Best Actress Golden Globe Nomination and so happy for Ryan Murphy [Co-creator of “American Horror Story”] and the whole gang for HOTEL’s nomination for Best TV Series!”
The Big Short also landed two best actor nods for Christian Bale and Steve Carell, and best screenplay for Charles Randolph and Adam McKay.
Although more high-profile than the SAGs, the Golden Globes are seen as less of an indicator of Oscars glory, as a relatively small group of non-US journalists – the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) – chooses the winners, rather than the industry itself.

Showtime’s “Homeland” also suffered neglect, while its splendid drama, “The Affair”, was cited only with a supporting dramatic actress nod for Maura Tierney.
