Netflix is updating its TV apps for the first time since 2013
Just recently we heard that a price increase was coming to Netflix, but that it would slowly be rolling out over the next ten years as the company encourages users to upgrade to the high-definition streaming plans.

Netflix has released details of the first major update to its TV applications since late 2013.
It may simply mean it is heading to TVs as opposed to other devices, or it may mean something a little more specific (only certain TVs).
The update won’t fundamentally change the app’s design, but it will cut down the number of clicks it takes you to start playing a video.
This shift is towards more of the traditional TV with channel surfing and switching, and the new Netflix update mimics the same functionality, but it’s not entirely the same. The new update will also allow users to immerse themselves more into the cinematic experience of streaming through the app. Netflix believes the new update is the best representation of the capabilities the TVs have in the age today. Now videos will start to play or resume right after a title is selected while key information is displayed about the content over the video.

The update is being rolled out globally from today (July 23), so users with eligible devices should expect to see the changes in the next few days. If that’s something that sounds fun, Netflix Roulette already gets the job done, but it would be nice to see Netflix officially embrace this risky entertainment endeavor sometime down the road.
