Kohan, I’m sure, feels right at home at Netflix, thanks to her continued attachment to the show she started there, Orange Is the New Black.

“Created by Liz Flahive (‘Homeland”) and Carly Mensch (‘Orange Is the New Black’), “G.L.O.W.’ was inspired by the real story of the 1980s female wrestling league”, Deadline reports.

With ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK creator Jenji Kohan exec-producing, GLOW, based on the 80s women wrestling promotion, has been ordered straight to series by Netflix.

Prior to this series, the wrestling organization was also the subject of an award-winning documentary, GLOW: The Story of The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. She will be pulled into the orbit of G.L.O.W., which did yield the benefit of weekly national exposure from their television show, historically taped in the (imminently-imploding) Las Vegas Riviera Hotel. The legacy of G.L.O.W. lives on today in various women’s pro wrestling federations such as Shimmer. But, briefly, a look at some of the characters from G.L.O.W.’s run: Babe the Farmer’s Daughter, Big Bad Mama, Matilda the Hun, Gremlina, Debbie Debutante, Scarlett the Southern Belle, and, of course Zelda the Brain.

The upcoming series, which was given a 10-episode arc by Netflix, will be set in Los Angeles and feature voluminous hair, bold slams and intense drama.
