Provocative documentary “Amanda Knox” makes its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on Friday before premiering on Netflix later this month, but today we have our first look at a trailer for the project.

Twice convicted and twice acquitted by Italian courts of the brutal killing of her British roommate Meredith Kercher, Amanda Knox became the subject of global speculation as non-stop media attention fed the public’s fascination through every twist and turn of the almost decade-long case.

Kercher, a 21-year-old from Surrey, was found in dead in the cottage she shared with Knox and two other women in Perugia, Italy, having been sexually assaulted and stabbed.

Breaking down in tears, she states: “I was so scared”.

The Netflix documentary premieres on September 30 and examines the Amanda Knox saga from multiple angles, including the Italian prosecutor who initially brought the case to trial.

She tells the camera: “Before Italy I had a happy life. I felt like a child again and I know I was a kid”. The documentary promises “unprecedented access to key people involved and never-before-seen archival material”, as well as interviews with Knox, her ex-boyfriend and (fellow co-defendant) Raffaele Sollecito, Italian prosecutor Giuliano Mignini, and Daily Mail reporter Nick Pisa.
