Netflix releases key art for ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’
Actress Simone Missick is set to play Marvel character “Misty Knight” in the upcoming Netflix series Luke Cage.

Given how much screen time Misty is going to be getting on Netflix, and how much people seem to be loving Missick so far, wouldn’t it make sense for her just to get her own show? The Walking Dead actor’s portrayal of Frank Castle in Daredevil has been well-received.
According to Marvel’s official site, Mercedes “Misty” Knight first worked as part of the NYPD until a bomb attack happened. After she got injured on the job, Tony Stark made her a bionic arm that gave her super strength. Having first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1975, Knight’s character had romantic affiliations with both Iron Fist and Power Man/Luke Cage. We certainly have plans for all of our characters. When will there be enough Marvel shows on Netflix, if ever? Originally the character was introduced in Marvel’s Jessica Jones and now Luke Cage follows the evolution of Cage “after he has relocated to Harlem and is in the process of picking up the pieces following his failed relationship with Jessica Jones”.
However, Loeb shared that it will all depend on Netflix and their terms on the entire partnership.
“At a certain point, we have to be careful that we’re not becoming the Marvel channel on Netflix”, Loeb jokingly said. The latest possible spin-off would be spinning off of the yet-to-be-released Luke Cage by the way of a Misty Knight spin-off. This will be the second trailer for the series next to its San Diego Comic-Con teaser, which you can check out below.
Loeb, on the other hand, said that they are still “finding the baseball” after Missick’s “knock-out” performance as Misty Knight.

Update 12:00PM: Comic Book Resources reported that an unnamed Marvel Television representative said Simone Missick will not appear as Misty Knight on “Iron Fist”, contradictory to the The Hollywood Reporter’s original quotes from Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb.
