First trailer to Netflix’s original movie “Special Correspondents” reveals how two hosts of a local radio station in NY fake a report on terrorism act in Ecuador. After Emmy nominations for “Derek” and a certainly profitable deal for streaming both versions of “The Office” – plus a guest voice role on “BoJack Horseman” – Gervais is transitioning his films to the streaming giant as well, starting with “Special Correspondents”. They pretend to be on the ground in war-torn Ecuador when they’re actually in an apartment above a restaurant in Queens, with a bottle of wine and a bag of chips.

“Special Correspondents is classic Ricky Gervais; smart social satire with heart”, said Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos.
In addition to having Gervais and Bana in the cast, viewers can also expect to find America Ferrera, Benjamin Bratt (complete with some marvelous facial hair), and Vera Farmiga in this satirical comedy.
Written and directed by Gervais, the movie is a remake of a 2009 French film of the same name (in French, natch). The film is about a struggling NY based radio journalist whose arrogance and decadent lifestyle has hindered his career.

Hopefully Special Correspondents is funnier than this trailer for the new Netflix movie suggests – though to be fair, some great comedies have had some pretty lame trailers.
