Netflix renew Sense8 for second season

Sense8 has been renewed for its second season. It turns out that the birthday imagery surrounding this particular date isn’t entirely fictional, though, because Netflix has announced that it’s giving the series the most exciting birthday gift an experimental sci-fi drama can get: a second season.

The streaming service made the announcement Saturday through a special video message posted to Twitter and Facebook.

During the show’s Television Critics Association panel last month, executive producer J. Michael Straczynski said it was still up in the air whether Netflix would grant Sense8 a sophomore season.

Sense8 follows eight characters that live in different cities around the world who experience a violent vision, and soon find themselves mentally connected by this experience.

Cast members include Tuppence Middleton, Aml Ameen, Max Riemelt, Daryl Hannah and Tina Desai, as well as Doctor Who star Freema Agyeman. While they are being hunted by an organization that is out to do them harm, these eight individuals from diverse backgrounds must quickly adapt to this new ability and to each other, and figure out what their connection means for the future of humanity.
