The show also won an award for Best Comedy Series at the Critics’ Choice Awards, so the announcement of a sophomore season isn’t too much of a surprise.

Ansari announced the renewal on social media Thursday, thanking fans for their support and sharing that season two will be released sometime next year.

“Alan and I were like, ‘We’re not holding anything back, any idea we have we’ve got to put it in, we don’t know if we’ll have this opportunity again, ‘” Ansari said at a Television Critics Association panel. The penultimate episode of Master of None traverses a whole year of mornings in protagonist Dev Shah (Aziz Ansari) and his girlfriend’s (Noël Wells) lives. “The first season was so personal, and I want to make sure that what ever we do for Season 2 lives up to what we did for Season 1”, he said. “So, yeah, we’d love to do it, and we’re figuring it out”.
