Memphis is out of Holland’s upcoming friendlies this month against Wales and Germany due to injury. Blind also admitted having asked Dirk Kuijt, now back with Feyenoord, if he would be open to joining the Dutch squad at the last two European qualifying matches.

Former Manchester United forward Van Persie, 32, moved to Fenerbahce this year as part of manager Louis van Gaal’s shake-up at Old Trafford.

Danny Blind has always talked about the inconsistency with the starting Van Persie has at Fenerbache. He is also in a phase of his career and he has to adapt to many things.

Asked about Memphis, Blind said: “I think Depay is a player for the future”.

Van Persie, who captained Netherlands to third place in the 2014 World Cup, has also been excluded.

“First of all Morgan Schneiderlin was in the 18 and he was ill this morning, so I have to take measures and I need first to look at the reaction”.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that Anthony Martial needs time to develop as a striker, but believes that it is the youngster’s best position.

“I don’t really think Van Gaal liked him that much, to be honest”, said Scholes.

“If he is fit for the next internationals, I will probably select him”.

Since moving to Turkey, Van Persie has struggled with his form and fitness. He must do more’.

Manchester United could do with an attacking spark against CSKA Moscow, so news that Memphis Depay will not return is inconvenient, to say the least.
