Sheriff’s officials said deputies were responding to reports of domestic battery and reported an injured woman at the scene.

Officials stated on Saturday a Nevada sheriff’s deputy was killed when a suspect opened hearth on officers responding to a home violence name. A woman was found at the scene with injuries, the release said.
The press release also says three children and one adult were eventually escorted from the home.
The Reno Police Department is now investigating the shooting.
News 4 spoke with several neighbors in the area, many say their neighborhood is usually very quiet and this tragedy has shocked the entire community.
“Right now it is an active investigation”, Broadway went on to say.
“It was chaotic, the police were coming from everywhere”, Scott Harper, one of the witnesses, said to MyNews4. It is not clear how the suspect died.
Giurlani, who is a retired state trooper, said a vigil for the deputy was planned for 8 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada Law Enforcement Memorial in Carson City.

The Carson City Sheriff, Ken Furlong, issued a statement on the awful tragedy. The identities of the officer and the family involved in the incident is not being released at this time.
