State officials say Nevada gambling revenue was down a little more than 1 percent in August compared with a year ago.

August was the third consecutive month in which a decrease in baccarat activity has been blamed for lower revenue totals on the Strip.
Revenue from the “tables and games” sector, which also includes bingo, keno and sports betting, totaled $332.6 million in August and was down 16.4 percent year-over-year.
A gaming analyst told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that economic conditions in China have been affecting high-stakes baccarat volume in Las Vegas. Downtown Las Vegas brought in $40 million for a 15% gain.
The Strip declines were due to baccarat, where revenue declined 24.1 percent.
The latest Vegas gaming revenue numbers show that the strip is continuing to slide.
Elsewhere in the state, the Carson City-Carson Valley corridor saw a 2.5 percent decline from August 2014 and at Stateline on Tahoe’s south shore, August gaming revenues fell 33.5 percent, which came two months after a hefty 44 percent increase in June over June 2014.
The news isn’t all negative, though – slot machine revenue in the county was up by nearly 14 and a quarter percent.
Casino revenue in other parts of Nevada also fell during the month.

Nevada collected $51.6 million in gaming taxes during September based the August gaming results, an increase of 2.2 percent. The current fiscal year totals for the Strip remain 3.4 percent below last fiscal year’s running total.
