Nevada GOP candidates react to Trump feud with vet’s family

Under fire for his harsh words aimed at the Muslim parents of a fallen US soldier, far from apologizing, Donald Trump is doubling down. But now it’s impossible to forget about Ghazala Khan, the woman who stood next to her husband at the DNC when he gave one of the most searing criticisms of Donald Trump thus far in this election.

Since making the comments many Republicans and Democrats alike have come out against Trump.

“I mean, you see anybody who dies for their nation, dies for the three of us at this table, made the ultimate sacrifice, but you know for my father, in terms of the Kahn family, it’s not about a soldier-who’s an unbelievable guy”. Trump criticized the Khans in an interview Sunday and again in some tweets Monday, saying he had a right to defend himself against accusations.

Trump belittled the parents of Captain Humayun Khan, whose father addressed the Democratic National Convention last Thursday night, denouncing the business mogul as unpatriotic and selfish over his divisive rhetoric against immigrants and Muslims.

Khizr Khan, who was born in Pakistan, told BBC News that Trump can not expect to insult women, judges, and members of his own party, and not face criticism.

Senator Ron Johnson, from the battleground state of Wisconsin, said “Capt. Humayun Khan, and all the Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, deserve our deepest respect and gratitude”. “I think the Republican Party is at a moral fork in the road – they have to now decide who they are and what they are”. “We honor those who wear the uniform, are grateful for their bravery, and celebrate their diversity”, she said.

“People deal very differently with grief”, said Saldivar. “He laid down his life for his country and left behind two grieving parents who have every right to voice their opinions in the political process”. “Maybe she wasn’t allowed to have anything to say, you tell me”.

“You have sacrificed nothing…and no one”, Khan told a national audience at the convention.
