Among Mountain West schools, Nevada’s GSR of 79 percent for this cohort was as high as or better than all but four conference members.

The NCAA GSR and the Academic Success Rate (ASR) were developed in response to college and university presidents who wanted graduation data that more accurately reflected the mobility among college students today.

The GSR for the group of SIUE student-athletes in the 2005-2008 cohort is 90 percent overall.

In addition, the Governors football, men’s basketball, softball and women’s track and field programs each posted their best graduation success rates since its creation.

Ten UCF programs boast the top score among FBS schools in the State of Florida – baseball, football, men’s golf, men’s tennis, women’s cross country/track and field, women’s golf, rowing, women’s soccer, women’s tennis and volleyball.

The FGR is mandated by the U.S. Government and reflects the number of scholarship student-athletes who enter an institution in a specific academic year and graduate from that same institution within six academic years.

– The overall one-year grad rate in men’s basketball increased 3 percentage points to 77, an all-time high, while the grad rate in women’s basketball was 89 percent. As a result, sports which have a higher level of attrition due to professional drafts may see their GSR lowered when a former student-athlete returns to pursue his or her degree.

Women student-athletes outpaced the general student population by four percent, posting a federal rate of 71 percent.

“This is a fantastic achievement and is a credit to all of our past and present student-athletes, coaches and staff who understand the priority of success in the classroom at Villanova”, Director of Athletics Mark Jackson said.

UConn was barred from both the 2013 Big East tournament and the NCAA Tournament based on the April scores from the 2007-08 through 2010-11 academic years. The report represents data from first-time freshmen, student-athletes who entered at midyear, and student-athletes who transferred into Mississippi State University between 2005 and 2008.

Under the leadership of football coach Sonny Dykes, who joined the Cal football program in December 2012, and men’s basketball coach Cuonzo Martin, who is in his second season in Berkeley, both teams have made significant strides in their academic performance.
