Gaga stunned fans when she revealed that her now untitled fifth studio album, set to be released this year, will feature a duet with Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine. “Me and Florence Welch did a duet together”, she said. “I started to work on an idea for a song that I really wanted to do with a girl”.

After a detour recording torch songs and jazz standards, Lady Gaga returned with a flourish to pop music on Friday, with the release of her new song “Perfect Illusion”.

“I don’t need eyes to see/ I felt you touchin’ me/ High like amphetamine/ Maybe you’re just a dream”, the singer wrote in a tweet this week, with the hashtag #PerfectIllusion. According to Entertainment Weekly, the singer also revealed some news regarding the new album, including information about collaborations. Gaga is reportedly working with producers like Mark Ronson and RedOne for the upcoming project, but when it came to collaborating with Welch, she was excited to work with an artist she really admires. “She’s incredible”, she added.

And how cool is it that someone who’s most famous as a pop star would enlist former David Bowie sideman Mick Ronson and modern-psych king Kevin Parker of Tame Impala to produce her new single “Perfect Illusion”?

A video for the song was filmed in the California desert over two days with Gaga dressed by her long-time fashion collaborator Brandon Maxwell.
