New Aston Villa owner Xia Jiantong has grand plans
Xia has reportedly already been in contact with representatives of former West Brom and Chelsea boss Di Matteo over taking up the role vacated by Remi Garde -although other contenders remain in the frame.

“Our initial payment is 75 million pounds ($109.2 million), and the total payment could mount to more than 100 million pounds ($145.7 million) if the team can stay in the Premier League for 3 years”.
Aston Villa has the potential to be the world’s most famous club by 2026, says new Chinese owner Tony Xia.
Newcastle United could have a major promotion rival for next season, should the new owner of Aston Villa follow up on his intention to invest £50m into the club.
Speaking to the Guardian, Xia said: “My ambition is to bring Villa to the top six in less than five years and I hope it can be [one of] the top three in the world – even the best well-known in the world – in less than 10 years”.
Xia is no stranger to Villa having watched the team’s last home game against Newcastle and he stated he would move to Birmingham with his wife and baby daughter to help the push for a return to the top flight.
“As we visited together, and had some unrushed time to discuss his plans, Tony’s excitement to develop Villa Park shone through”, he added. I think a lot of Villa fans are eager to get back up to the Premier League, so the next one year will be very tough for me. We need a really good coach who knows how to play in the Championship. It’s even harder than the Premiership.
The Chinese businessman, 39, this week bought Villa from Amercian Randy Lerner, who had been looking to sell since 2014.

The American, in a rambling farewell message, said Xia has the enthusiasm and experience needed to redevelop Villa Park and improve revenue streams. I hope we can bring everything back on to the right track as soon as possible.
