New BlackBerry Venice image reveals BB10-style virtual keyboard

According to the latest leaked details regarding the new BlackBerry phone, it will reportedly have an onscreen touch keyboard, which would be typical of the devices out on the market today; but there is something else about Venice that sets it apart.

Obviously, we won’t be hearing about the Venice anymore if BlackBerry decides to drop it from its portfolio, but for the time being the unannounced slider is real and might be officially unveiled later this year. The smart phone is expected to have a 5 megapixel front facing camera and an 18 megapixel rear camera with OIS.

The Venice, which was teased by its Canadian maker at the Mobile World Congress back in March, is a slider phone with a physical keyboard that slides out from under the display that allows for faster, easier use when typing out longer emails or documents.

The Venice in this image looks just like the handset we’ve seen numerous times now; it has a large display with curved edges, a BlackBerry logo emblazoned across its top edge, and BlackBerry’s familiar three-button layout on its right side.

This time around, even more details are coming about the BlackBerry phone that has been given the codename Venice.

BlackBerry hasn’t said anything regarding the specifications of its upcoming flagship smartphone. So far, the rumor mill has pegged the Venice to run on a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 and 3GB of RAM.

We also know the smartphone will come with several Microsoft apps and services, including Skype and Bing. But the slider is being treated to something of a renaissance under BlackBerry, and in the case of the forthcoming “Venice” handset, the mechanism will provide quick access to the company’s famous hardware keyboard.
