New Concept Art For Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The sapling version of Groot, who will fight alongside his fellow teammates in Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2 after his noble sacrifice in the first film, is just too cute.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now shooting in Atlanta, and while director James Gunn has provided certain details on what fans can expect out of the next installment in the series, there are still a couple of secrets – including who the team will fight. It features Starlord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Rocket Raccoon, and Baby Groot going up against a giant monster with multiple tentacles and layers of teeth. What they’re battling is a head-scratcher as well. This is the first movie for the filmmaker since he steered Guardians of the Galaxy to success two years ago.

This concept art, along with plenty more, will be featured in the upcoming Empire magazine issue that focuses entirely on the incoming Marvel film.

Little is known about the monstrous creature, which Gunn said is an Abilisk. The Guardians will also have to deal with Yondu and the Ravagers, although director James Gunn reveals to Empire that “There’s a mutiny and Taserface (Chris Sullivan) is a character that leads that”. Meanwhile, the helmer took to Facebook to address the unusual expression of the young Groot drawn in the concept art by Andy Park.
