New console owners unable to log on to playstation network
One of the biggest problems involves account creation; Sony seems to have difficulty validating these new accounts and it isn’t fixed just yet.

New PlayStation owners say a computer glitch is preventing them from accessing the console service that lets users play games online.
Hacker groups Phantom Squad and Lizard Squad threatened to hit the Playstation Network and Xbox Live with a DDoS to overload servers over the festive period.
SkidNP is using a botnet (a network of malware-infected computers) to launch their attack, which makes blocking it extremely hard, even for services like CloudFlare.
Steam users reported odd behaviour in the Steam Store including their main currency and language switching or that they were logged into someone else’s account – often a symptom of a deliberate attack on the network.
Hopefully Sony can resolve this issue quickly so that users get their account activation email soon, and can start playing their new PlayStation 4 consoles.
At the same time, others said they had successfully managed to access the service and were experiencing no issues.
It was not known what was causing the problems with PlayStation Friday.

There aren’t now too many users reporting problems with Xbox Live, suggesting the network could have escaped the hackers – but problems could develop throughout the day.
