New Dr. Seuss book ‘What Pet Should I Get’ released

When Geisel showed up at Random House’s New York offices, she recalls, it would be with an essentially finished manuscript, “black-and-white line drawings with text indications and colour directions”.

Although it took a while, “we decided Ted had done enough that we could be confident we had all the illustrations-in the right order-as well as all the text we were going to get”. Seuss (aka Theodor Seuss Geisel)’s signature rhythmic rhyming style, this is a must-have for Seuss fans and book collectors, and a ideal choice for the holidays, birthdays, and special occasions of all kinds.

“We had no idea what we were in store for when Claudia notified us of the materials discovered in Ted’s home”, says Brandt.

In his lifetime, Geisel wrote and illustrated 44 children’s books, including classics such as The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham, that have helped generations learn to read. Those three titles alone continue to combine for 1.5 million copies sold annually. That’s the lesson, a hard one for kids, which Dr. Seuss aims to teach in this book. The first book, due to hit bookstores on July 28, 2015, is titled, “What Pet Should I Get?”.

The book is believed to have been written more than 50 years ago.

In the story, a brother and sister try to decide which animal to take home from a pet shop.

One book. Two Book… at least two more books to come. Or it might have been the jumping-off place for One Fish Two Fish.

As Geisel’s former art director, Goldsmith is the only remaining Random House Books for Young Readers executive to have worked with Geisel before his death. I won’t tell you the ending. University officials hope that work will begin on the project next spring. When he died, his wife and his assistant boxed up a lot of materials as they prepared the house for a renovation. Once, she went out on a limb – fashioning a transition at a point where reality gives way to fantasy, as the boy begins imagining fantastic creatures.

“I woke up in the morning, and I had the answer”, she said. The pair consider a Grinch as well, but are left undecided in the end.
