Google’s Hiroshi Lockheimer has announced on Twitter that fresh new emoji are coming to Android starting next week as part of a new system update to the operating system. The good news is that a whole bunch of new emoji are set to hit the Android platform beginning next week. A unicorn, a lion and a crab will be among the new emojis released by Google in the coming days.
Because of the way Android works, the new emoji won’t be available on all Android devices simultaneously. Unless, of course, you own a Nexus device.
Google has confirmed that it will launch a series of new emoji on its smartphones next week, with the icons available to Nexus device owners. Google could (hypothetically) choose not to use a certain emoji if it didn’t like it, and new emojis are not immediately available. He also revealed that Google was able to share the fonts and tech details with OEMs, giving them the ability to include in future Android updates as well. Ugh, you’re so 2000 and late – or perhaps you’re just an Android user.

Some of the new additions include a burrito, taco cheese block, unicorn, nerd face and many more. The new update will bring its closer to iOS 9.1 and help make things even for Android users.
