New England Patriots Acquire WR Brandin Cooks From New Orleans Saints
Cooks was a Saints first-round pick in 2014. But after Cooks expressed frustration with his usage in the offense previous year and with the emergence of Michael Thomas as the team’s true no. 1 receiver, a separation may have felt inevitable for the Saints’ front office.

Cooks has played three seasons in the National Football League, and remember, he is just 23 years old. It’s clear why the Patriots were so persistent in trading for the 23 year old wide out. He has been the team’s deep threat over the years. He is unquestionably one of the most talented up-and-coming receivers in the NFL. Don’t go purchasing your Butler jerseys just yet, though, because Butler could still be traded according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It was his second straight 1,000-yard campaign as he caught 84 passes for 1,138 yards and nine scores in 2015.
The move to pick up Allen came a day after unrestricted free agent Martellus Bennett tweeted a series of goodbye messages to Patriots fans, signaling his intentions to sign elsewhere. Cooks can be the answer to how the team can rebuild the receiving core, given the fact that he can play both the slot and outside. He’ll add an extra gear to a group that also includes Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell.
If you think the New England Patriots are sitting back relaxing after their miraculous Super Bowl win last month, you don’t know Bill Belichick. It should be interesting to watch what kind of numbers Brandin Cooks can put up catching passes from an all-time great in Tom Brady.

Cooks would add some major juice to the Patriots offense, as he’s a unsafe deep threat and a speedster who can take short-yardage passes and break them for huge gains.
