New England QB Jimmy Garoppolo limited in practice

“The Patriots are putting pressure on Garoppolo to be ready as quickly as possible, even reminding him Tom Brady played through a similar injury on multiple occasions throughout his career, sources have told the Herald”, Jeff Howe reported Tuesday.

Brissett played the second half on Sunday against the Dolphins and showed his inexperience, but did just enough to help the Patriots hold on for a 31-24 victory.

Despite starting the season 2-0 to lead the American Football Conference Eastern Division, the New England Patriots are still going through some problems as they miss their key players.

Rookie Jacoby Brissett was set to make his debut start in the National Football League, he’s the only active QB on team’s roster.

With Garoppollo likely out, the Patriots will be counting on rookie third-round pick Jacoby Brissett to bridge the gap until Brady returns in Week 5.

So if Brissett goes down tomorrow, and Garoppolo can’t play through a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder, Edelman will be prepared to handle a modified version of the offense. The Texans had less than three full days to prepare before flying to New England today, so their limited time on the field has included some type of cram session for the Patriots’ unknown elements at quarterback.

Tight end AJ Derby also has quarterback experience. So what I’m saying is Gilette Stadium is like the nexus of the “slow start” universe on Thursday night – the Texans can’t let that happen.

New England Coach Bill Belichick obviously was not going to reveal too much about Garoppolo’s status on Tuesday, because that isn’t his style. I’m not a doctor. From injury reports to playoff races, he follows every single team and longs for the months of July to February. “He’s a hard-working kid”. We’ve all got a lot of work to do. He stays late, he studies the game mentally. “He has improved steadily since he has been here since back in the draft, in May, all the way through”. We can coach better, we can play better, we can overall in different units execute better collectively, not just individually. We thought he was a really good player when we evaluated him in the draft.
