With Sony’s announcement of a November 10 release this fall and a price tag of $399, eyes are now on Microsoft to announce more about Scorpio.
The PlayStation VR headset will go on sale in the United States on October 13 with 50 titles available by the end of the year, the company has said. According to Sony, it has more than double the GPU power of the original PS4.
What we know so far is that the PS4 Pro will be both 4K and HDR ready.
Albert Penello seems sanguine about Sony’s long-awaited unveiling of the PlayStation 4 Pro (formerly known by its in-development codename, “Neo”).
In more exciting news, Sony also announced the PS4 Pro. “Ultimately, with titles that leverage the potential of PS4 Pro – plus PlayStation VR launching soon – all PS4 owners continue to benefit from having the best place to play”.
Speaking with a few PS4 game developers on the event floor, we learned that their game assets are rendered at an incredibly high resolution and with 100% of the sRGB color gamut anyway.
But the company trotted out Days Gone and its designer Chris Reese to describe how much better the game will look on the upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro.
New YouTube and Netflix apps are on the way, especially designed for the PS4 Pro and offering hours of 4K content.
Corrections & Amplifications: Andrew House is head of Sony’s PlayStation division.
There’s no release date yet, but it will be an exclusive for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro. Today, months of rumors came to an end when Sony finally unveiled the PlayStation 4 Pro. The biggest selling points of the new console are all built around 4K technology, so the $399 upgrade is really only worth hunting down for gamers who already own a 4K television or are willing to buy one.
