If this does turn out to be the workflow for the new Iris tech, it might be impractical for unlocking your device all the time. Smartphones account for more than half of Samsung’s profits.

Finally putting a lid on all the speculations doing rounds, Samsung has officially announced it will conduct an Unpacked event on August 2 to unwrap the Galaxy Note 7.

The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display and feature the same dual-edge design that Samsung has on the Galaxy S7 Edge.

The Note 7 comes with a display with curved edges and features an iris-scanning function, a first for a Samsung smartphone. Just a week ago after its new version of TouchWiz being made surface online, the South Korean manufacturer chose to take a strategic move to release the TouchWiztoNote 5 beta testers in South Korea.

Samsung scheduled the Note 7 announcement on August 2 in NY at 11:00 a.m. EDT, Rio de Janeiro at 12:00 p.m. and London at 4:00 p.m. local hour.

Rumors have speculated that the Galaxy Note 7 will cost more than the previous Galaxy Note devices have. Anyway, since leaks started pouring in we saw some exquisite tech specs rumored as well as an awesome piece of software like we’ve never seen before from Samsung but something else about the phablet is unlike anything we’ve seen before its price tag. Samsung will allow everyone to witness the live telecast of their unveiling of Note 7 via their official website. Also of note – pun intended – is that the Galaxy S7 preorders kicked off a day after Samsung’s Barcelona event at MWC 2016.

Furthermore, the name Galaxy Note7 will minimize confusion about the latest mobile technology from Samsung, and provide full alignment with Galaxy S smartphone. As far as hardware is concerned, there have been a lot of rumors and leaked information indicating towards a true flagship device and we know pretty much all the specifications of the Galaxy Note 7.
