New Harry Potter book pre-orders exceed expectations

The play itself was written by JK Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne in collaboration for the London West-End stage and opens to audiences on Saturday, 30 July.

According to an Amazon representative, the play is the most pre-ordered book on the commerce site since Deathly Hallows.

Bookshops are hosting midnight book release parties, as they did for each new novel during the height of Pottermania. The dark undertones of this latest story seem to suggest that Rowling’s send-off contained more ominous irony than we’d originally thought.
