New HTC One X9 leak offers another look at the unannounced phone

It’s sure been an interesting month for HTC. Things became odd, though, when the company bumped the phone’s price up to $499, when its debut price of $399, per most opinions, is exactly where it should have remained. This could lead to several people buying the One A9 instead of the costlier and faster device from Apple just because they want a look alike.

Rumors pertaining to the alleged HTC One X9 smartphone are gathering momentum and close on the heels of the images of the iPhone-like device leaking, the handset has now been certified by China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center. Under the hood, it has an octa-core MediaTek processor, running at 2.2 GHz, alongside 2 GB of RAM and 16 gigs of expendable storage. It’s unknown whether or not this is a Qualomm chip, but at 2.2GHz, this phone isn’t going to be a slouch. Like the One A9, it has a 1080p display. Other key specs include a 13 megapixel camera at the rear, a 5 megapixel camera at the front, and microSD support. Dimensions are 153.mm tall, 75.9mm wide, and 7.99 thick. Notably, the device appears to herald the return of HTC’s Boomsound stereo speakers – they were axed from the A9.

This whole story reminds us of the HTC One A9 that was first leaked as a few sort of “hero” device and turned out to be more of a mid-range handset. Apparently, the HTC One M9 will be another device that will be updated to the Android Marshmallow in the upcoming days.

This is not the first time that we get to see the One X9’s design, but it’s the first time the pictures showing the phone come from an official source. Finally however, the reviewer describes the device as a “well made phone” that could stand up well to other smartphones in the market and even the iPhone lineup. One of these if the fingerprint scanner which is described in the review as easy to set up and recognizes user’s input without any problem.
