The new setting, which is automatically turned on when a you update to iOS 9, makes sure that users don’t experience any buffering when on a weak Wi-Fi signal. By default, Wi-Fi Assist is on and will allow your mobile data to kick in if your Wi-Fi connection is too slow. In that case, you could find that you’re running through your data quicker than ever, and can’t remember when or how it happened.

The newest problem uncovered by users is a bug that prevents them from using apps if they’re not connected to a Wi-Fi network.

That’s all you need to do.

But if you have enough data to spare, Wi-Fi Assist is a pretty cool feature and you should probably keep it enabled. Have you been hit with extra cellular data use or charges because of this feature? That’s helpful if you’re in the middle of watching a video or a few other task on the internet that you don’t want interrupted by spotty Wi-Fi service. If your especially paranoid about your data use, check with your carrier to see when your billing cycle resets each month and set a reminder to reset your statistics on that day as well.

In order to disable this feature, users will go into their Settings, then click Cellular.
