New iPhone sacrifices headphone jack but becomes waterproof

With the new iPhones, Apple finally paid heed to the complaints of its customers and did away with 16GB internal memory variant – which means that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus variants come with a minimum 32GB internal memory.

This means the United Kingdom consumer will pay an extra £81 – nearly 16% more than the U.S. average. Other new features arriving with the update include a new caller ID extension for spam alerts, split-view support for iPads, Siri-enabled contextual predictions while using QuickType and a new technology called Differential Privacy that Apple said will help “improve QuickType and emoji suggestions, Spotlight deep link suggestions and Lookup Hints in Notes”.

But, the biggest changes of Apple Watch Series 2 are a new water-resistant shell, which makes the smartwatch swimproof, along with the additional Global Positioning System chip.

The iPhone 7 is priced at $649, the same as its predecessor, the 6s.

The iPhone 7, with a 4.7 inch display, will cost Dollars 649 while the 5.5 inch iPhone7 Plus will come at a price tag of USD 769.

The new handsets have a renewed focus on photography and waterproofing, and are the first to come in jet black and black finishes, joining rose gold, gold and silver in the colour spectrum. So if you want to listen to music while charging your straight-out-of-the-box iPhone 7, you’re out of luck. The larger iPhone 7 Plus edition will retail for $769 – $20 more than the iPhone 6s Plus – and will feature two cameras, including a telephoto lens.

Several other leading Android devices also feature water and dirt-proofing ability, including Sony’s Xperia XZ, which is even able to take photos whilst submerged.

Apple also revealed new wireless earphones, called AirPods, that will connect to both iPhone and Apple Watch remotely.

The company has also announced the wireless AirPods – slightly odd looking Bluetooth earphones that will be available for £159/$159 in late October (interesting exchange rate that’s been used there). Apple’s smartwatch also has the same single-day battery life.
