New Jersey braces for excessive heat; officials urge caution
In western and south portions of New Jersey, the mercury is expected to climb even higher, with highs well into the 90s on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the National Weather Service said. We could still see an isolated storm in the afternoon as an upper level system moves through northern New England. Once we factor in the dew points…we’ll have heat index values in the triple digits.

Severe weather isn’t expected, but please be aware that deadly cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy downpours and gusty winds will accompany some of the strongest storms that will could quickly pop up.
Saturday and Sunday will be hot and sunny as well, but humid. The heat index may be in the upper 90s for a time during the afternoon as the humidity increases.
We’ll remain hot, but we’ll return to the low to mid 90s, with highs in the 80s back in the mountains. The ocean will offer a little relief, but the water is pretty warm right now in the 70s. This will allow slightly cooler and drier air in for latter part of the weekend. Highs are still forecast to reach 88 to 94 degrees. Highest coverage of rain and storms will be from USA 41 east, but a few coastal storms will still occur. But it’s not going to do much for us, unfortunately. Today, heat advisories are in effect for middle and west Tennessee, and we may see one issued for us before the weekend is over. Scattered 90s will be possible for Wednesday and Thursday too.
