New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie ends 2016 White House bid

He was more complimentary of the Republican field after winning in New Hampshire.

For Gov. John Kasich, whose second-place showing was New Hampshire’s primary stunner, the task was to convert newfound interest into support in a state ideologically distant from his native Ohio.

If Mr Trump had Republicans on edge, Democrats were feeling no less queasy.

“Today, I leave the race without an ounce of regret”, he wrote on his social media account.

Fiorina, who came in seventh, said she will not “sit down and be quiet”. But he vowed to fight back if other candidates hit him. More important, Cruz, victor of Iowa, was a distant third in New Hampshire and hasn’t turned his Iowa success into a translatable bump in the next race, for SC. She promoted herself as an outsider with business experience and argued that as the lone woman in the GOP field she was best positioned to oppose likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Sanders mentioned at his victory rally that he was headed to New York City, but did not say anything about Sharpton.

“My concern is that in January of next year, for the first time in American history, a black family will be moving out of the White House”, Sharpton said. “I do not want black concerns to be moved out with them”.

Christie told a crowd of supporters in New Hampshire on Tuesday night that he was headed home to New Jersey to “take a deep breath” and assess what comes next.

The Congressional Black Caucus will endorse Clinton on Thursday and its members will be active in supporting her campaign, the Washington Post reported, citing US Democratic Representative Gregory Meeks of NY, chairman of CBC’s political action committee.

“People have every right to be angry”, she said. Iowa has set the stage and determined the cast for this race.

Early voting for Georgia’s primaries began Monday and runs through February 26. “And I was surprised he didn’t do better”, said Trump.

That attention to the first-in-the-nation primary state paid off in December, when Christie won the endorsement of the New Hampshire Union Leader.

For now, he reigns supreme with young voters: Clinton received just 16% of the vote among people under 29, according to New Hampshire exit polls. Rubio has been mostly returning fire and taking aim at Obama, but has avoided challenging Trump. But the other candidates are waging fierce battles for second place.

Cruz’s supporters believe that the Texas senator’s finish behind Trump and Kasich on Tuesday cleared the path for Cruz as a constitutional conservative.

“His campaign was sending out recorded calls to activists in Iowa telling them Ben Carson has dropped out, inform everyone at the caucus site”, Rubio told CBS News’ Major Garrett Wednesday.

Rubio’s campaign has looked forward to the state.

“I can’t image a scenario where he even makes an attempt to continue through SC”. But he canceled campaign appearances scheduled for Wednesday in SC.

Despite the apology, Rubio, whose Iowa momentum slowed considerably in New Hampshire after a shaky debate performance on Saturday, kept up the criticism of Cruz.
