On July 31, Niantic issued an update that that disabled the in-game tracking system, created to show how close Pokemon were to your location.

Niantic also recently updated the app, preventing some third party apps for the game from being used while also removing Pokemon Go’s in-app “3-step” tracking for users to find Pokemon in the game.

There’s no question that the Pokemon Go servers have been significantly more stable ever since Niantic released its highly controversial update over the weekend, but the developers appears to have created a freakish glitch as well.

Representatives for Pokemon Go did not immediately respond to a request for comment. We were delayed in doing that due to aggressive efforts by third parties to access our servers outside of the Pokémon GO game client and our terms of service.

The tracking feature in Pokemon Go has been broken for quite some time; some fans believe that Niantic even turned the feature off because the servers just couldn’t handle the high amount of players and track Pokemon efficiently.

“The original feature, although enjoyed by many, was also confusing and did not meet our underlying product goals”, Niantic writes. “But we do want you to understand why we have taken the steps we have and why we will continue to take steps to maintain the stability and integrity of the game”. A large number of users has made rolling out the game around the world an interesting challenge. Some countries, including Brazil and India, are still waiting for the game’s official launch.

Although this is the first lawsuit filed against the company it is not the first time the app, which launched on 6 July, has been in the news for the wrong reasons.

With the latest update to Pokemon GO, it basically put an end to tracking apps/services such as Pokevision. But we’ll do our best going forward to keep you posted on what’s going on. According to a user in possession of the Pokemon, they claim it was sent to them directly from developer Niantic after submitting a complaint about something in the game going awry.
